Phil Mickelson set for another good start at the BMW Championship
Following a tied fourth-place finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship last week, Phil Mickelson is set to make another good finish at this week’s BMW Championship. He is currently preparing for the Ryder Cup, scheduled to start from September 28, 2012.
Prior to the PGA Tour Playoffs, the four-time major champion was struggling with his form on the tour. He had only one top-10 finish registered under his name, since he tied for the third position in the Masters Tournament.
Two weeks ago, he shared the 38th position at The Barclays, the first of the four events in the Playoffs. It was not something new for the golf fans, to watch the Lefty play some poor shots on the course.
Last week, his followers witnessed the real Mickelson, displaying some good set of skills with his driver and the putter at TPC Boston.
He recorded three back-to-back rounds of 68, followed by an impressive 66 in the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
He now wants to keep the momentum going into this week and confirmed that it was not just a fluke that earned him a good finish at TPC Boston.
According to him, he improved his game with the irons in the past couple of week and brought some improvements in his putting technique too.
“I'm looking forward to this week. My game is finally starting to come around,” he said. “I'm starting to drive the ball well and hit good iron shots, and my putting has been really good, too. I'm looking forward to this week and the next couple”.
“I guess it's more comfortable the more I've used it (his putter), but the results have been the same, and that's the ball starting on line, my touch has been good, and I've made a lot of putts,” he added.
By and Large, Mickelson is no doubt one of the greatest players in the world and has the potential to maintain his form, in any event in the world.
While talking about the course conditions at the Crooked Stick Golf Club, he admired the course and stated that he never played on such a beautiful course in the past few months.
