Phil Mickelson shows interest buying San Diego Padres – MLB News
American professional golfer and World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson is showing some great interest to buy the San Diego Padres after speculations rose that the South San Diego franchise is looking for decent money before finalising a potential deal.
Mickelson was present on Monday in-front of large media when he told the reporters about the level of interest he feels for the Padres’ ownership.
He said telling some details about his native town, “Growing up, the Padres were my team and still are, I always had a love for the team. But (recently) I just felt disassociated with the organization a little bit as a fan.”
He added, “I just know I didn’t identify with the players or have an emotional connection. Where I want to get involved is I want to get a personal involvement with the players and the community — personal interaction with fans, more community outreach.
I want to create an emotional tie with the players and the community.”
In April, this has already been disclosed that the Padres were finding potential buyers for their franchise.
The Padres senior executive John Moores was given the responsibility to look for the potential buyers who must possess the right kind of abilities as well capabilities to grip the lows and highs of any franchise’s ownership.
Later it was also revealed that former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Peter O’ Malley is interested in Padres’ possible ownership.
O’ Malley and his different businesses across US made him a potential new buyer of the club, but later with the arrival of more probable bidders for the Padres, his chances of getting the franchise decreased with some solid reasons.
In the meanwhile, now since Mickelson is also interested in the Padre ownership’s stake, the baseball experts are giving no accurate guess regarding what will be the new scenario of the club.
The Padres management is also looking desperate to complete this sale process as they recently watched closely all the proceedings of Dodgers sale which not only completed in time, but the results of new and efficient ownership giving the Los Angeles franchise
a new hope of success.
