The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 player penned a four year deal with the Merseyside club on Tuesday, after his former employers’ expulsion from the Scottish Premier League resulted in him getting the Bosman ruling.
Having heard a lot about the player from his Croatian team-mate Jelavic, the 35-year old was in awe for the Scott’s exceptional talent and the versatile roles that he can play inside the team.
Even though Naismith is essentially considered as a striker, he was repeatedly seen playing in different parts of the park at Rangers. He took up the midfielder’s role from time to time and also played on the wings.
Neville told the club’s official website, “He [Steven] can play in a number of positions and he just looks to me as if he's the perfect http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043-type player - he's hard-working, he's got quality, he can score goals, he can play on the left, on the right,
he can play behind the front man and we can utilise him in a number of ways.”
A factor which is expected to serve as an advantage for Everton, is that Naismith has already played alongside the Toffees hot shot striker Jelavic. This can help them a potent partnership much earlier than expected.
Neville revealed that he spoke to the player after his arrival at Goodison Park, and saw a strong hunger and desire in him to make an impact in the Premier League. He was also of the opinion that he won’t have any major problems adjusting to his new home,
as the friendly and cooperative environment that they have got in the dressing room tends to make things easy for the newcomers, unlike many other clubs.
He added, “Sometimes when you join a new club it takes you a while to settle in. But we've seen from past signings that at Everton players tend to settle in quicker than most.”
The Toffees skipper further added that the Scott’s inclusion well before the transfer deadline date had added an extra spark in the team, as they gear up for their pre-season fixtures.
