Former Manchester United defender, Phil Neville, has backed his former teammate, Ryan Giggs, to overtake Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson as the next club manager.
With Alex Ferguson reaching the twilight of his managerial career with the Red Devils, United have been looking for an ideal replacement for the great Scot. Several names including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid’s Jose Mourinho, Barcelona’s Pep Guardiola and Porto’s Andres
Villas-Boas are linked with the Red Devils but Neville believes that Giggs is the ideal candidate to takeover at United.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 defender hailed the longevity and dedication of Giggs for the Red Devils and believes that the Welshman knows everything about the club and will adjust quickly. The 34-year-old added that a player like Giggs can earn support from the fans if
he fails to gain instant success at the club.
Talking to the reporters, Neville said, “The way I can see it developing is if say he develops a manager from within like my brother, like a Ryan Giggs that can carry on that dynasty, the foundations are there and the next person that comes in needs to be
singing off the same hymn sheet.”
“That's why I think the next manager of Manchester United might come from within and when you see Ryan Giggs and his character to me he looks like the perfect manager to follow Sir Alex Ferguson.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 International added that Giggs’s situation will be very similar to Liverpool’s Kenny Dalglish, who was backed by the club despite not winning any silverware during his stint with the Reds. Now Dalglish has joined the Merseysiders for a
second managerial stint and has made a strong impression amongst the fans.
Neville believes that if Mourinho takes over the managerial duties at Old Trafford, he would be under immense pressure to deliver instant success but it will be easier for a club legend like Giggs.
Giggs has the highest number of appearances in Manchester United history and has won 12 league titles, two UEFA Champions League and four FA Cups during his almost 21-year stay at the club.
