Phil O’Kane and Hans Blanckaert have surged into the second round after defeating Tony Else and Jamie Clarke respectively.
The second event of the World Snooker Q School has been running successfully under the lights of the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
The Chinese Mei Xi Wen and Thailand’s Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon have been awarded walkovers in the second session of day two as their respective opponents, Andrew Norman and Adam Wicheard have already grabbed the tour cards for the upcoming season of 2011-12.
Phil O’Kane 4-1 Tony Else
The match between the Englishmen O’Kane and Else was totally dominated by the former with a strong impact on his opponent. Else could win only one frame during the match and the rest were taken by O’Kane.
O’Kane grabbed a one-frame early lead at 1-0 when he potted a small knock of 30 in the first frame. However, Else capitalised in the very next frame with a 32-point lead and clinched it by 28-60 to pull level at 1-1.
The 25-year-old Else really made his presence felt after he took the second frame but O’Kane did not feel any pressure as he fired another 30-point clearance in the third frame to gain the lead again at 2-1. The English cueman O’Kane trailed 23-25 in the
fourth frame before he made a huge comeback and pocketed a sensational clearance of 47 and grabbed the frame victory by 70-25.
O’Kane needed only one frame to paddle himself into the next round against Saqib Nasir which he won pocketing a decent 36 clearance. The overall score line of the match was 84-28 (O'Kane 30), 28-60, 57-26 (O'Kane 30), 70-25 (O'Kane 47) and 68-21 (O'Kane

Hans Blanckaert 4-2 Jamie Clarke
The second-session match between Blanckaert and Clarke was comparatively a close encounter. The first-round clash was a seesaw affair until the end of the fourth frame but after that, Blanckaert stole the show with excellent potting skills.
Clarke got off the mark first as he took the initial frame convincingly at 36-75 followed by Blanckaert’s small breaks to clinch the second frame 65-44 and pull level at 1-1. At 2-2, Blanckaert sprinted stunningly and won the match after clicking back-to-back
frame victories to storm into the next round of the event against Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon of Thailand at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
The final frame scores of the match were 36-75, 65-44, 44-59, 66-53, 69-25 and 69-41.
