Phil Taylor dazzled by Roland’s effort, “The Power” barely wins!
The UK Open has been extremely surprising with its start. The entertainment has been solid, yet, Hankey’s early dismissal was indeed a sad day in the darts world.
On the other hand, Phil Taylor was stunned by his opponent’s brilliant battle in the third round of the UK Open.
Phil Taylor is called “The Power” for a reason, his level of play at the game of darts is exceptional and he stands out as the best darts player to have ever lived. He continues his global dominance with killer results and inspiring performances.
As they say, there are good days and there are bad days. This week, Taylor faced Roland Scholten. This battle was considered as another easy win for “The Power”.
However, it was not easy at all for the 15-time World Champion. Roland put up a very tough battle and moved Taylor aggressively. Taylor won at the end but admitted that it was a very difficult face-off.
“I was really nervous there so it's a relief to get through, that's the best I've seen Roland play for three years or so because he's had a bad shoulder injury and I didn't expect him to play like that,” said Taylor, admitting an outstanding effort by Roland.
Gary Anderson gave an excellent performance this week that included his first ever televised nine-dart finish, following a great victory.
It was a sight for the fans all over the world watching the darts magician performing the most magical move in the darts business.
“It's very special, I've never done one on TV before so it's very nice to hit one here,” said an over whelmed Anderson.
Taylor, on the other hand, had a hard time winning 9-7 against Roland. Since his Premier League victory last month, he has never been this dazed as he was this week.
“He came back well and put me under pressure, and I'll admit that my bottle was going. I was shaking a little bit because you don't want to get beaten in your first game here,” said Taylor.
Phil Taylor is a legend, yet, he was shaken to his core by the level of play Roland gave this week. Round four is up ahead, bringing the best of darts once again.
