Phil Taylor wants to retire in 3 years, “The Power” focused on the World Matchplay!
Phil Taylor has finally announced that he will retire after three years. While giving an interview, “The Power” confirmed that he has already planned his after-retirement life and is looking forward to it.
“I’m going to do another three years until I’m 55 and then we’ll see what happens from there. I can’t keep going forever obviously and I want to have a little bit of a break before I pop my clogs, when I retire, I’m going to go and live by the sea and live
in the sun by a swimming pool,” said Taylor.
The 15-time world champion is now eyeing the World Matchplay and is hitting it with an outstanding form. He has been ‘untouchable’ in recent tournaments and is aiming to repeat history once again.
His mind still holds the hit that he endured at the UK Open. It was the rookie, Robert Thornton, who defeated Taylor in the final.
Taylor, however, believes he needed that. “You need a bit of a shot across the bows sometimes and I got one in the UK Open,” admitted Taylor.
It was a sight to witness “The Power” facing humiliation at the hands of Thornton, who just entered the world of professional darts. It remains one of the worst performances by the legendary Phil Taylor.
The upcoming World Championship holds the opportunity for “The Power” to get the score to 16. It would be an iconic record for Taylor to be the first ever 16-time world champion if he wins the World Matchplay.
This time, “The Power” is not taking pressure at all. He is focused on giving his best and he does not care whether he wins or not, he just wants to enjoy.
“I’ve worked hard since the World Championships and I’m enjoying it. I’m not putting myself under so much pressure, now I am thinking if you win you win and if you don’t it’s not the end of the world,” said Taylor.
His attitude towards the World Matchplay is all he needs to fulfill his supremacy. Taylor remains the best darts magician in the world and whether he retires or not, he will remain ‘the best darts player that ever lived’.
