Philadelphia 76ers Coach Doug Collins still considers Chicago Bulls formidable – NBA Update
Even though the Philadelphia 76ers lost their first match of the quarter final series against the top seeded Chicago Bulls, however with star player and leader Derrick Rose being ruled out for the season with a torn ACL, has given
them a hope to bounce back.
Sixers, Head Coach Doug Collins however thinks that even without Rose the Bulls are a team to beat. Collins reminded that Rose’s absence is not something new for the Bulls this season;
"One of the things I shared with our guys is (Rose) missed 26 or 27 games this year," 76ers coach Doug Collins said after Sunday's practice. "They have played without him. It's not going to be that he's not missed any games, and
all of a sudden now, 'What are they going to do?' They've won some games without him. They've won some big games without him.”
In the regular season matchup between the two teams on March 17th, Rose sat out due to injury, but still, led by reserve point guard C.J. Watson who finished off with 20 points, the Bulls recorded an 89-80 win. So when
the Sixers get ready to take on the Bulls in game 2, they have to prepare for a completely different styled point guard as compared to the high flying Rose.
One thing that can work to the Sixers advantage is Watson`s lack of driving force. Sixers can better their defensive prowess without Rose, who brought so much force to this Bulls attack that it was an easy thing to lose focus of
your responsibilities and just concentrate on stopping Derrick`s drive to the basket.
Even star players like Andre Iguodala who played under the Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau during the All-Star break contemplated on the matter and believed that even with the current group of players, Tom will still come out as
ready as ever.
"Just playing up against them and being a student of the game and watching different teams play, you get a chance to realize that they're not a one-man team," - Iguodala said.
This is mere proof of the fact that how good the Bulls have been throughout the season even with Rose missing out 27 games during the regular season. Bulls are still going to come out strong and the only thing that remains to be
seen is to how Thibodeau will approach the game and what kind of strategies will he be looking to apply.
