Philadelphia 76ers beat Boston Celtics 82-75: Fourth Quarter Breakdown - NBA Playoffs 2012
On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers, playing at home, responded well to their head coach Doug Collins’ motivational techniques to win the Game 6 against the Boston Celtics by 82-75 in this Eastern Conference semi final series.
The series will now be decided in the 7th game set to take place at the TD Garden on Saturday. This will be a repeat of the 1982 Eastern Conference Semifinals, in which the Phillies knocked out the famed Larry Bird’s
Boston team at the Garden.
Jrue Holiday led the way for the Sixers with 20 points in the game on a 7 of 15 shooting performance. Evan Turner and Andre Iguodala chipped in 12 point each in the game and combined together to grab 15 rebounds in the game as
well.
Elton Brand notched up a double-double performance of 13 points and 10 boards while Louis Williams came off the bench to record 11 points in the ball game. Spencer Hawes was able to record 9 points in the game on a 4-of-6 shooting
night.
For the Boston team, Paul Pierce led the way with 24 points. Kevin Garnett was not far behind with 20 points whereas Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo chipped 9 points each. Rondo also had 6 assists and 9 rebounds in the game.
Brandon Bass went quiet after a 6 point outing in the first quarter; he went scoreless in the second quarter, managed 2 in the third and was unable to register a single point in the final quarter of the game.
Spencer Hawes opened the scoring for Philadelphia in the final quarter of the game to make it a 6 point game. It was a close game in the early goings and that did not remain the case in ensuing passage. Philadelphia outscored the
Celtics 10-3 and were leading 70-59 going into the fifth minutes if the last frame.
Boston tried their best to chip the lead down; however the closest they came was 5 with 32.9 seconds remaining in the game, courtesy of a Pierce three.
The Sixers answered back to everything the C`s had to offer and kept them at bay for most part of the period to take this one by a margin of 7 points and evening up the series at 3-each.
