Philadelphia 76ers sign Maalik Wayns; C.J Miles considering the Los Angeles Lakers – NBA News Roundup
Philadelphia 76ers sign Maalik Wayns on a one year deal
The Philadelphia 76ers signed Maalik Wayns on Tuesday in order to add back court depth to their roster for the coming season.
Wayns, a young guard out of Villanova, went undrafted on June 28th but a series of impressive performances in the Orlando Pro Summer league have earned him an NBA contract with the Phillies.
He took part in the summer league while representing the Orlando Magic in three games. In those games, the guard averaged 11.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals which earned him interest from several coaches in the
NBA.
The Magic management was reported to give a deal to Maalik but the Sixers were able to snatch him up and bring him back to his native city.
Wayns was an exciting guard in his time with the Villanova Wildcats, who finished the season with a combined win-loss record of 13 -19 and only had a 5-13 record in the conference.
C.J. Miles close to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers
According to several reports, the Los Angeles Lakers have offered C.J. Mile a place in their roster for the coming season and the wingman is close to agreeing with the deal.
The exact details of the deal have not come out as yet but Miles is looking at a contract worth $3 million for each year he plays with L.A. There has also been speculation of several teams being in constant talks with the Utah
Jazz to send Miles over on a sign and trade deal, but so far the Lakers have looked the most promising team in the player’s pursuit.
By bringing in Miles, the Lakers are hoping to fill up the void left behind by Matt Barnes. However he would have to work on a lot on his perimeter scoring before he could become a strong bench player for the LA based team.
Miles scored 9.1 points per game last season for the Utah Jazz; however his shooting averages from both inside and outside the three point line took a dip.
