Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver DeSean Jackson has no issue with team management – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has said that he has no issue with the team management that benched him in the week 10 game against Arizona Cardinals.
After missing an important team meeting just a day before the Sunday game, Jackson was dropped from the final line-up by the management that considered his action as violation of discipline. His absence from the field must have
been badly felt as Eagles were overpowered by Arizona Cardinals 21-17.
Jackson, who was drafted by Eagles in the 2008 NFL Draft, has made start in all the eight games of the season. The absence from the team meeting on Saturday caused him his ninth straight start. The rookie, however, admitted that
it was his mistake and said that he’s not going to question the decision of the management and is ready to go forward.
“Don't matter what happened, I missed the meeting and my punishment was my punishment and I'm not going to sit here and ask any other questions or answer any other questions,” he said.
Jackson has scored two touchdowns with an average of 17.3 receiving yards this season. After the Sunday’s game, he met with Eagles’ coach Andy Reid and presented his point of view ensuring that he had no grudge against anyone.
Following the development, the coach also welcomed Jackson and told a news conference that the rookie is going to be a part of starting line-up in the next game. However, he maintained that nobody including the coach himself is
above the team and said that one has to face the consequences if they have done something wrong.
“I've always had a good relationship with DeSean," the coach said. "I've done this with other players so we can't forget that part. I've done this two or three times with other players where I've sat them down, so it's just one
of those things that happens.”
Eagles have lost six games this season with only three wins to their credit. With 24.4 points and an average of 418.2 yards (246.7 passing yards and 171.6 rushing yards), they are ranked at the 11th spot in the league
ranking and hold third place in the National Football Conference East division. They will take on New York Giants on Sunday.
