Philadelphia Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha expects physical game against Pittsburgh Steelers – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has said that Eagles’ game against Pittsburgh Steelers on the latter’s home field this Sunday will be a tough and physical matchup.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Eagles are gearing up to face Steelers, who have a strong offence side and even though Steelers have won only one of their three games this season they pose a serious threat to Eagles.
Eagles are 3-1 and currently leading the National Football Conference (NFC) East. They must keep on winning if they want to maintain their lead in the division, but wins are not going to come by easily.
Asomugha said of facing Steelers:
"When you’re playing in Pittsburgh, I think your approach has to be, whether they’re 0-10 or 10-0, the approach is the same. It’s a tough place to play, and you know that they’re going to bring their best. It’ll be a physical game. It’ll be a tough game,
a fast game. But you’re still preparing like you’re playing against one of the best teams, because at home they are one of the best teams."
Eagles’ defence has not been exceptional this season and there are many areas where it can improve.
Steelers, on the other hand, are somewhat struggling on offence and defence as well. However, their only victory of this season has come in their home game and as they prepare for their second home game of the season they are up for utilising the home-field
advantage as much as possible.
Steelers offence is led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is among the league’s best quarterback and that is why Eagles cannot, for even a second, get complacent.
Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans has acknowledged that it will not be easy for his defence to control Steelers offence. He has particularly pointed out Roethlisberger’s ability to create scoring opportunities, saying that Eagles must exert pressure on him
from the start.
Ryans said:
“You have to stay tight on coverage throughout the entire play with these guys because they have the ability to make a lot of big plays on you.”
Steelers are currently placed at third position in American Football Conference (AFC) North.
