Philadelphia Eagles’ DeSean Jackson wants to please fans by winning Super Bowl – NFL News
It is ironic that the Philadelphia Eagles have not yet won any Super Bowl title in the National Football League as despite reaching the playoffs plenty of times, the team has not clinched the NFL title.
Realising how important it is for the team to win the title, Eagles’ wide receiver, DeSean Jackson, has once again expressed wish of winning the Super Bowl, saying that the players, coaching staff and the fans deserve to see the Super Bowl trophy coming
to Philadelphia.
Jackson said:
"I'm looking forward to just getting out there and playing ball, doing something I love to do, just being concentrating and focused on going out there and helping this team be successful, bring a Super Bowl to this city of Philadelphia.”
He added:
“The fans, I think, deserve it. Coach Reid, everybody's been around this organisation for so long, that time is due. As a team and as a player, we just have to put it together and make it happen.”
Eagles received the honour of appearing in two Super Bowl games, but they lost both of them. In 1980, they defeated the Dallas Cowboys to win the National Football Conference (NFC) championship and qualify for the Super Bowl matchup in which they lost against
the Oakland Raiders.
They got another chance to win the Super Bowl after more than two decades when they qualified for the title game after beating Atlanta Falcons in the conference championship game in the 2004 season. However, they lost that game against New England Patriots.
Since 1947, Eagles have marked 23 playoff appearances, but they were unable to bring the prestigious Super Bowl ring to Philadelphia.
They could have done that in the last season in which the team was one of the best in the league, but failed badly and ended the season without even qualifying for the playoffs.
However, the players are hopeful of ending the drought this time around.
Jackson, who has recently been awarded a five-year contract with the team, will have to play a major role in the team’s success to materialise his claims and actually bring the trophy to the city.
These days, Jackson is attending the team’s offseason workout programme.
