Philadelphia Eagles’ King Dunlap arrested for misconduct and reckless driving
Offensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles King Dunlap was charged with disorderly conduct and reckless driving when he drove his vehicle onto the plaza outside of the arena where the Southeastern Conference National Collegiate Athletic Association women’s
basketball tournament is being held.
Police of Nashville, Tennessee where the incident occurred say that Dunlap drove his 2004 Cadillac Escalade SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) onto the sidewalk outside of the arena and parked his vehicle near the front doors on Friday evening. He told police that
he had been picking up his father, who is confined to a wheelchair. Officers then asked Dunlap to move his car to the nearby street where vehicles are supposed to park and also offered assistance in helping his father to the car.
Dunlap then refused to move his car and was arrested and taken into custody. His other family members who were attending the basketball game moved his Escalade. Police also say that the 25-year-old offensive lineman was cooperating when taken into custody.
He is set for release on a bail worth $1,000.
The offensive tackle was taken 230th overall in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Auburn University. He was considered to be one of the highest draft picks for offensive tackles but his draft stock dropped after a mediocre senior
season.
He was signed by the Eagles out of the draft on a four-year contract for an undisclosed sum of money. However, he injured his ankle during the 2008 pre-season and was placed on season ending injured reserve.
He then came back in the 2009 season and played in 12 games. However, he did not start until Week 6 of the season because of left tackle Jason Peters. He allowed three sacks in the Week 5 game, when Dunlap took over in the first quarter. In the Eagles Week
6 game against the Atlanta Falcons, Dunlap started and allowed no sacks from Falcons defensive end John Abraham.
In his NFL career, Dunlap has played in 18 games but started only one.
