Philadelphia Eagles’ Michael Vick not bothered by the team’s interest in Peyton Manning – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback, Michael Vick, has said that he was not bothered when the team explored different options regarding signing Peyton Manning, who was released by Indianapolis Colts last month.
While talking to reporters at the NFL-Nike uniform launch on Tuesday, April 03, 2012, the quarterback said that he ‘does not care’ about Manning’s pursuit. He also asserted that he considers himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football
League (NFL).
Manning, who started his professional career with Colts, could not play even a single game during the last season owing to a neck injury. He was eventually released by Colts, who were facing some ‘financial issues’ and a lot of teams expressed interest in
signing Peyton.
Eagles also contacted Manning for his potential signing, but the player was reportedly not interested in playing for them and he ended up joining Denver Broncos. When asked how he feels about Eagles’ interest in Manning, Vick said:
“Peyton's in Denver. That's where he's going to be. But one thing I know, I know I'm one of the best quarterbacks in this league. That's what it is, that's the way I feel, and nothing will ever change that in my mindset."
After starting his professional NFL career in 2001 with Atlanta Falcons, Vick joined Eagles in 2009 and has been playing for the teams since then.
Last year, Vick signed a six-year, $100 million contract with the Eagles, who despite being rated as one of the strong contenders for the National Football Conference (NFC) championship title, could not even qualify for the playoffs.
However, the 31-year-old Vick is not even bothered by the team’s failure in the last season and thinks that he is mature enough to understand the situation and lead the team to winning the championship game in the next season.
He said:
“When you're 31, 32, 33, and you're in the right situation, you push for it to happen. So you work a little harder, spend more so you put everything into it and get everything out of it. Right now, I'm in a more mature state, a more relaxed state, and understand
what needs to be done to win a championship."
