Philadelphia Eagles’ OG Danny Watkins: Developing chemistry is important for us – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive guard, Danny Watkins, has played only one National Football League (NFL) season, but realises the woes his team is facing since a long time.
Despite being a good unit, Eagles have never won a Super Bowl title and Watkins thinks that players should develop strong chemistry to ensure the display of proper teamwork on the field.
Watkins is not the only one to have come up with idea. In fact, a lot of players including some officials have stressed on the need of developing chemistry among the players.
Before the start of the last NFL season, Eagles selected many star players, forcing the observers to predict them as the Super Bowl contender, but the team failed badly and could not even qualify for the playoffs.
It was assumed that the presence of many star players affected the team in a negative manner as they were not able to get along properly.
However, the Eagles found their winning ways towards the end of the season as the players got familiar with each other’s playing style. They ended the season on a positive note and are now hoping to carry the momentum into the next season.
Watkins, who will play his second professional season, also acknowledged that the players got in good rhythm towards the end of the season, which he thinks, will help them in the upcoming season.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Watkins said:
"The chemistry that we developed towards the end of last season I'm hoping we're going to be able to keep that consistency and that cohesiveness through this offseason and bring it into the season. I think it's going to be pretty important for us."
In his rookie year, Watkins was lucky to have received the starting role from the team. He started 12 games for the Eagles, who were pretty impressed by the rookie’s performance.
Watkins also participated in the team’s offseason voluntary workout programme and is hopeful of giving his best during the organised team activities (OTAs).
He said:
"I'm just building from the skills and techniques that I learned last year. I want to move forward and get better and help the team do big things here."
