Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick to share his experiences at NFL Rookie Symposium – NFL News
Hundreds of youngsters have made it to the National Football League (NFL) this year after playing their hearts out in the college league.
Those who were selected certainly deserved the exposure of the NFL, but now that they have been inducted there is still a lot to learn.
To give the young players a glimpse of the NFL life, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will address the 15th Rookie Symposium where all the rookies will be present.
Vick himself was selected as the top pick in the 2001 draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He played six seasons with the Falcons and also earned three Pro Bowl nominations (in 2002, 2004 and 2005).
He enjoyed fame, a hefty contract and success before his life turned upside down.
In 2007, Vick was found involved in dog fighting and he was subsequently sentenced to prison for 23 months.
All the fame, money and contract could not save him and the euphoria ended with the punishment.
After serving the punishment, however, Vick returned to the league and this time Eagles trusted him and gave the quarterback a contract.
Initially, he served as a backup but injury to Eagles’ regular quarterback paved way for Vick, who performed tremendously well in the 2010 season. He earned another Pro Bowl nomination for that season and was also named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
Vick is still the starting quarterback for the Eagles and now he knows that if he goes off course he will have to pay the price even if he leads his team to victories. This is something that every rookie must also know and that’s why Vick’s address is said
to be very crucial for the youngsters.
Meanwhile, NFL Vice President of Player Engagement Troy Vincent has said that the rookies will know about every aspect of the game during the symposium.
According to the details present on the Eagles’ official website, he said:
“Each rookie should leave the symposium with the knowledge and history of where our game began, where it is today, and challenged to make a positive personal impact on the future of our game. The NFL and its clubs are committed to providing players with
the best resources to succeed both on and off the field.”
