Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson supports Michael Vick’s claim – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has supported the claim of quarterback Michael Vick, who recently said that the Eagles could develop a dynasty with the players present on their squad at the moment.
While many thought that the quarterback was just creating hype of the upcoming season, as the Eagles had done last year, Vick stood by his claim.
Now his teammate, Jackson, has also come in front and extended his support to the quarterback. During an appearance on “NFL AM”, Jackson also sung praises of the Eagles’ current roster and said:
“I'm going to back my quarterback up at any given time. I feel the team we have here, we have a very explosive team, with the offence and the couple additions to the defence this year."
Eagles have seemingly strong defence this year. Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (DRC) are up for playing at key positions that might help the defence.
Jackson maintained that presence of these players is helping the offence and defence equally during practice sessions as the Eagles prepare for the season. He said:
“On this field right here with the cornerbacks we have with DRC, Nnamdi, me and Mac (Jeremy Maclin), I think we get out there and we're competing on a high level. It's good for them to get out there, so once the season starts their really not going against
too many receivers as fast as us.”
Eagles were termed “Dream Team” before the 2011 season. They had added many good players to the roster, but they were unable to perform well in the season. After a slumping start to the season, the Eagles managed to register a comeback, but were unable to
qualify for the playoffs.
Eagles are coming off an 8-8 season and they are once again creating hype before the start of the season. Vick and Jackson have already supported the hype and it is expected that more such claims will surface as training camp progresses.
However, it will only be their on-field performance that will determine the worth of the Eagles’ claims and since they have a serious competition to face in the National Football Conference (NFC) East they will have to work very hard to materialise these
claims.
