Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin wants children to follow their dreams – NFL News
A few days back, it was San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis who addressed some children in Washington and urged them to follow their dreams and believe in them to be successful.
The kids are having an ideal time as they continue to receive motivation from their idols. This time around, it is Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who has urged the youngsters to follow their dreams and achieve success.
Maclin is going to host a youth football camp where he wants to inspire the kids to follow their dreams, just like the player himself did.
Maclin was a first-round pick in the 2009 National Football League (NFL) draft, but to become the first-round pick he had to clear many hurdles.
His childhood memories are not very memorable as he was abandoned by his father. He was adopted and had to deal with the trauma while growing up.
Nevertheless, he stayed strong was able to make it to the professional league in which his performance was also commendable.
In his rookie season, Maclin started 13 games while playing 15 in which he registered a total of 773 rushing yards on 56 receptions. He also scored four touchdowns.
In the 2010 season, his performance was even better as he played and started all 16 games and caught 70 passes while running for 964 yards. He scored 10 touchdowns in the season.
Last year, he was hit with an unidentified injury and there were fears that he might be suffering from cancer. However, his medical reports rubbished those speculations and the player was able to recover completely later.
He played and started 13 games last year and recorded a total of 859 receiving yards on 63 receptions while scoring five touchdowns.
As Maclin gains more strength for the upcoming season, he wants the youngsters, who also want to play professional football in the future, not to give up on their dreams.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, he said:
“We hope to inspire the kids to follow their dreams and put in the work necessary to have them become a reality. They may not have had the easiest path to get there but dreams come true with hard work and by surrounding yourself with good people. I am a
living example of that."
