Philadelphia Eagles’ Winston Justice to have knee surgery, Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo recovering
Winston Justice, right-tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, is to have a surgical procedure performed on his left knee on Tuesday. Dr. James Andrew, a renowned surgeon from Birmingham, Alabama will carry out the surgical procedure. He will be treating a chipped
bone in his knee which caused him to miss three regular season games in December.
Justice injured his knee in a Week 13 win over the Houston Texans. Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that the injury was only a hyper-extension, but Justice ended up missing two games before participating in the Week 16 clash against the Minnesota Vikings.
He sat out against the Dallas Cowboys the following week. Justice also said that he was 100 per cent before the National Football Conference Divisional play-off game against the Green Bay Packers, but had a bad game and was substituted in the fourth quarter.
The fifth year tackle has started in 30 of his 41 games since the Eagles drafted him in the 2006 NFL Draft from the University of Southern California in the second round, overall pick number 39. He started in 13 games this season, as the rest of the offensive
line has allowed quarter-back Michael Vick to be sacked 34 times.
In similar news, Dallas Cowboys’ quarter-back Tony Romo is feeling much better and says that he has recovered from a broken collarbone which he sustained in Week 7 against the New York Giants. Line-backer Michael Boley took him down in the second quarter
of the Monday Night Football game.
Romo missed the last ten games of the season, being placed on the injured reserve list on 21 December, 2010, but quarter-back coach Wade Wilson commented on Romo’s recovery. “He's throwing great," Wilson said. "His delivery and velocity and revolutions and
all that stuff is really, really good. As far as his throwing motion, it's back to normal."
Romo had the best game of his career in Week 5 of the 2010 National Football League season against the Tennessee Titans, as he threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns. However, it was only his best game until the fourth quarter, in which he threw two interceptions
which resulted in a loss. The Cowboy’s also went on to lose to the Minnesota Vikings.
The Eagles will be praying that the surgery on Justice’s left knee is successful, as the player plays a very important part of their team. The Cowboy’s, on the other hand, will be happy with the recovery of their quarter-back Romo, as his contribution to
the team is vital, if they are to have any success in the new season.
