Philadelphia Eagles’ centre Jason Kelce satisfied with rookie season, ambitious about next –NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ centre, Jason Kelce, who made his National Football League (NFL) debut last year, has said that he is pretty much satisfied with his debut performance and while acknowledging that there are still plenty of flaws to overcome, Kelce has
hoped to display even better performance in the upcoming season.
Kelce, a sixth-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft, was trusted with the starting role in his first season and he did his best to live up to the expectations.
According to the details present on the team’ official website, Kelce is apparently satisfied with the way he performed last year and is working out at the team’s facility to overcome his flaws.
He said:
“As a rookie I think I did a good job. There are always things I can improve, and one area I want to work on is my pass pro (protection). I think it got better as the season went on, but that's still an ongoing thing I want to work on.”
Kelce admitted that he struggled towards the start of the season because he was yet to adapt to the game techniques. It was also because of the last season’s NFL lockout, which prevented players and coaches to train before the start of the season.
However, he is attending the team’s offseason workout and is supposed to participate in the organised team activities (OTAs) and preseason games to get more practice.
Kelce wants to learn a few more techniques for the next season so he could have diversity in skills.
He said:
"At the beginning of the year, most of the mistakes I made were because of technique. At the end of the year, it was mostly not using my help that got me into trouble. This year I want to institute a couple of different techniques so that my set isn't always
the exact same thing."
Like every other player of the team, Kelce also regretted Eagles’ failure last year and hoped that the team would at least reach the playoffs in the upcoming season and said that all the players should keep their focus on winning the games and work hard
for that.
Meanwhile, Kelce also said that he has recovered from the foot injury sustained during the final game of the last season.
