Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha comfortable in knowing his teammates – NFL News
It has been said a lot of time that the Philadelphia Eagles were struggling to develop team chemistry towards the start of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season and that’s why they went on to lose a few games early on in the season.
It was a justified reason because the Eagles had acquired many new players who could not practise with each other in the offseason due to the NFL lockout.
They met during training camp and learned the system in the best possible way, but were unable to transform into a proper unit.
Towards the end of the season the Eagles found their winning momentum back and the players began coordinating well, but the team was still left out of the playoffs.
It has been expected since the end of the season that the Eagles would do much better in the 2012 season as they have all the time they need to develop chemistry among the players this offseason.
Many players have also shared the same thoughts and the latest one to echo the same sentiments is cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha is of the view that since the players are training together during the past few months they understand each other well and this, he said, brings high comfort level in the team.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, he said of the current offseason and practice:
"Everybody just becomes a little more comfortable. And then, I would say defensively, just being able to have some more time under the system, us with our defensive coaches being able to cut out a lot of the things that just didn't work for our defence and
for the style of players that we have and to build off of the positive things that did work for us.”
He added:
“So all of that time right there and all of that stuff right there makes it more comfortable."
Asomugha started his professional NFL career with the Oakland Raiders in 2003. He played eight seasons with the Raiders and joined the Eagles last year.
In his first season, the Eagles did not qualify for the playoffs but he is hopeful that the team will do much better in the upcoming season.
