Philadelphia Eagles crush New York Jets 45-19 – NFL Week 15 Recap
For the first time in the season, Philadelphia Eagles showed the signs of a ‘Dream Team’. LeSean McCoy had 18 receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Michael Vick got 107.0 rating for completing 15 passes
of 22 attempts for 274 yards. The Eagles still have a chance to reach the postseason after they thrashed New York Jets 45-19 in the week-15 game of the National Football League current season at the Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
If the Eagles win their rest of the two games in the regular season and fortune goes against Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants then they could reach the playoffs by leading the National Football Conference East division.
“It feels good to still have a chance to even be considered in the playoff race.  We’re been through a lot and this team is very resilient.  We have a great deal of resolve and we just try to go out each and every week and get
better,” Vick said after the game.
Right from the start, the Eagles dominated the visitors. In the first quarter, a 47-yard fumble return from Juqua Parker earned them the first touchdown of the game. At 2:05, Vick sent a 26-yard pass to Brent Celek to increase
the lead to 14-0.
After an exceptional first quarter, the Eagles returned in the second with even more cruel intentions. At 12:18, Vick managed an 11-yard run for a touchdown to take the score to 21-0. After around three minutes, LeSean McCoy managed
a nine-yard and scored a touchdown.
With the Eagles in lead 28-0, Jets finally found their momentum. At first, Nick Folk scored a 39-yard field goal, which was followed by Mark Sanchez’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes. With less than a minute left in the
halftime, Folk scored a 28-yard field goal to reduce the deficit to 28-13.
After allowing a few points in the second quarter, the Eagles once again geared up for rattling the opponents. In the third quarter, they scored a touchdown and a field goal to take the score to 38-13.
The Jets tried, but could not hold the hosts. The Eagles started the fourth quarter with a 33-yard run from McCoy, who took the lead to 45-13. The Jets got a consolation move, which too remained incomplete as they failed to get
a two-point conversion after a touchdown at 9:40. The game ended with Eagles’ leading 45-19.
This was the sixth loss for the Jets that are placed second in the American Football Conference East division. Jets Coach Rex Ryan was clearly disappointed with the loss.
“Obviously a horrendous performance by us, that goes without saying. One thing we entered the game thinking we had to run the table and that we’d control our own destiny. We come out of the game, we need to win the rest of the
games to control our own destiny,” he said.
Eagles will play Dallas Cowboys in the week-16 game whereas the Jets will now play against New York Giants.
