Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Trent Cole: We’re not going to give up – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Trent Cole has said that the team is not going to give up, even though their record in the first half of the season is below par.
Eagles are struggling at the moment and have lost a total of five games in the first half of the season. At present, they are on a four-game losing streak with the recent loss coming against New Orleans Saints.
Cole is of the view that there still are eight games left for the Eagles and anything can happen. According to the details present on the team’s website, Cole said:
"We're not going to give up. Being a vet, if I have to keep preaching to the guys, we're going to keep moving forward and keep at this thing. That's what we have to do. We have to get this thing right.”
Cole has been playing with the Eagles since starting his National Football League (NFL) career in 2005. He has not won any Super Bowl ring, but is not losing hope. He said:
"I've been here eight years and I've had times where the team had situations like this. We've got to get to the drawing board and get this thing right. We all have to be held accountable, look at ourselves individually and take it to another level personally."
The main problem for Eagles is that they are struggling on offence as well as defence. On one hand, quarterback Michael Vick has not been able to show his true class, and on the other, the defence has not been able to restrict opponents from getting scoring
moves.
This has increased troubles for the Eagles, who certainly have the potential to qualify for the playoffs. Their performance last season was also not very good, for most part of it at least. They managed to win four games at the end, but that was not good
enough to give them a playoff berth.
Just like the last season, Eagles are required to find their winning rhythm. However, it must come earlier than last season or else it will be another disappointing end for them at the end of the season.
