Philadelphia Eagles excited and motivated about the 2012 season, says QB Michael Vick – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has once again claimed that the players are excited and motivated about the upcoming season, saying that there is no pressure on the team.
Eagles’ prospects in the 2012 season has been debated plenty of times owing to the fact that the team was unable to live up to the expectations in the 2011 season.
The Eagles had entered the 2011 season as one of the Super Bowl contenders as the team had added plenty of star players to the squad before the start of the season.
However, the players were unable to combine well and after a lowly start the team was unable to show the recovery that could have led it to the playoffs.
After being eliminated without qualifying for the playoffs, Eagles once again started building their squad. They have again added some players on offence and defence during free agency and the draft this year.
Furthermore, they have had a great offseason, which was the only thing they could not do last year owing to the National Football League (NFL) lockout.
By the looks of the things, it is again expected that Eagles would at least qualify for the playoffs in the 2012 season.
Still, keeping in view their last year’s performance the Eagles have to answer some questions.
Nevertheless, Vick is not worried about what others think of the team. He is of the view that the team has all the talent it needs and believes that the Eagles will do better this year.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Vick said that the players are not feeling pressure. He said:
"The only time we talk about it is when we talk to the media so it’s like it doesn’t even exist to us because we’re so motivated on the season and excited about the season.”
He added:
“We’re really excited about going into this year as far as football and being able to go out and have fun and play good football. Not to prove anything to the world or to the critics, but to ourselves that we can play with the best."
Vick said of his squad:
“Because the team that I’m on now, we feel like we’re one of the best teams in the league.”
