Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid OK with Michael Vick’s comments – NFL News
A few days ago, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick sung praises of the team’s current roster and said that Eagles could develop a dynasty with that roster.
Some critics thought that Vick was just bragging about the team in an attempt to motivate his teammates who are going to enter training camp now.
However, Eagles head coach Andy Reid thinks otherwise. He is unbothered by Vick’s claims and seems OK with it.
In fact, the head coach has adopted an entirely different approach to the quarterback’s comments. He appreciated the fact that Vick likes to face challenges and said of the comments:
"That's all right, I'm OK with that. I know the player. I know this player, and I know he loves challenges, he's as competitive as anybody you've ever been around and he wants to win and he's willing to do whatever it takes physically and mentally to do that. So, I can't help but love that as a coach."
Eagles are entering the 2012 season as strong contenders to win the National Football Conference (NFC) East in which the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants along with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins are also present.
Just like this year, Eagles were rated a threatening unit before the start of the 2011 season as well. They had selected many star players during the offseason, making their roster very strong. It prompted quarterback Vince Young, who had just joined the team, to term it "Dream Team."
However, Eagles were unfortunate as they were unable to live up to the hype and made a very pathetic start to the season, losing four games in a row after winning the first one. They were not even able qualify for the playoffs and finished the season 8-8.
Vick’s recent claim is also judged under the light of Young’s remarks, but Reid is of the view that there is a difference between both of them. He said of Young’s claim:
"I think (you see the difference) if you know the two different players here. OK, so that was a new player coming into town here, it was a different situation. He did it without any communication into that or know-how.”
