Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid rubbishes report suggesting Michael Vick is victim of politics
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has rubbished the reports claiming that quarterback Michael Vick is a victim of politics in the team.
Vick, who is recovering from concussion, failed badly earlier this season before being forced out with the injury. His position is now taken by rookie Nick Foles, who has also failed in securing a win for the Eagles.
However, different media reports suggested that Vick claims being a victim of politics in the team, but the head coach has denied them.
According to the details present on Eagles’ website, Reid said:
“There’s nothing to that (report). I’ve talked with Michael and Michael is good. I don’t know where things get started but Michael is fine with it. He understands that everything is in the best interest of him right now and making sure that he’s ready to
go.”
Meanwhile, Vick has also issued a statement thanking his fans and saying that he is focused only on his recovery. The statement reads:
“I feel strong and healthy. As a professional athlete, I want to play in every game but the NFL has a specific protocol to protect players. My focus is to complete this process successfully, so I can rejoin my team on the field.”
These are hard times for the entire Eagles’ organisation. The team is struggling badly on the field at placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) East.
If the Eagles win their remaining games of the season they will finish the season at 8-8. They finished the last season on the same note and the owner clearly stated before the start of this season that another 8-8 record would not be acceptable.
Keeping in view Eagles’ performance in this season, many experts have predicted that the Eagles will not be able to finish even at 8-8.
This has sent the alarm bells ringing for many players and officials. Many reports have predicted that Reid will be fired after the season, while many reports have also suggested that Vick could also be sent packing.
In such a case it is better for everyone to stay out of controversy and that is why Reid and Vick have given statements to deny the recent media reports.
