Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid will not risk quarterback Michael Vick’s health – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has said that he will not risk his quarterback Michael Vick’s health.
Reid shared his views after Week 12 loss against Carolina Panthers and said that he will control things which are good for the team. The coach further said that he is not worried about anything but want his players to get coached up and win games.
Talking about the return of Vick in this situation when they have lost last seven games in a row, Reid said, according to Eagles’ website:
"We've got to get him healthy here, see where he's at. He took another test today, didn't pass it. I'm not going to put him at risk, that's not where we're going with this thing."
When asked what would happen if Vick did not return earlier, Reid said:
"The young guys, if they're available to play, we'll put them in. If that's the situation, we won't hesitate to do that. Whatever the scenario is, the young guys are having an opportunity. They're all having a great experience here, having an opportunity
to play."
Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles has replaced Vick but he has not performed well in the games he has started. Overall, he is 59 of 99 passes for 542 yards and has scored one touchdown with three interceptions.
Vick suffered concussion during Week 10 game against Dallas Cowboys, when Cowboys’ linebacker Ernie Smith hit badly on his back.
The veteran has scored 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and completed 185 of 316 passes for 2,165 yards. His performance was not good from the start of this season.
Despite all this, Reid has confirmed that whenever Vick will return, he is going to start the games.
Meanwhile, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy also suffered concussion during Week 11 game against Washington Redskins.
Eagles are now facing trouble as the rookie quarterback is not performing well and experienced players are out. They have won three and lost eight games and ranked 4th in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
They are going to play their next game against Dallas Cowboys, who have won five and lost six games and stand at 2nd position in the division.
