Philadelphia Eagles jubilant after victory over Miami Dolphins – NFL News
After two straight defeats, Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday got the much-needed victory, which has still kept them in the playoff-race. The win equally delighted the players, fans and especially coach Andy Reid, who is proud of his
players.
“We both fought hard against one another, but our guys were able to come out on top. I’m proud of my team, and I’m especially proud of my defence,” the coach said.
According to unofficial estimates, around 30,000 Eagles’ fans travelled to watch the game in the Sun Life Stadium. They saw their team rushing, tackling and scoring, and constantly cheered to motivate the players.
Eagles’ cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha thanked the fans for their support and said that it was ‘awesome’ to play in front of such a crowd. He was not the only one to enjoy the encouragement. Defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins also felt
motivated and said that it was ‘crazy’ to be with all the fans.
Wide receiver Jason Avant felt like he was playing at home.
“There was a lot of positive energy; it wasn’t negative. It was definitely a quality road game, which the guys like to play in, anyway, but the fans made it special,” he said.
Eagles got their fifth victory of the season, which means that they can still make it to the postseason through a wildcard. They have lost eight games and are placed at third position in the National Football Conference East rankings
with a complete one-game lead over Washington Redskins.
They desperately needed this win to keep hopes for playoff alive. Running back LeSean McCoy said after the victory that the game was a tough one and emerging victorious at the end was great.
"It's been a tough season for us. We're here to win. Everything we do, we do as a family and as a team, so getting out of here with a win is great,” he said.
Meanwhile, quarterback Michael Vick, who returned to side after missing three games owing to two broken ribs, said that he is very proud of the way the defence performed against the Dolphins.
Vick himself made a smart comeback and completed 15 of 30 attempted passes for 208 yards while managing a touchdown.
Eagles have got three more games left in the regular season. They will take on New York Jets next week.
