Philadelphia Eagles not ruling out Michael Vick against Washington Redskins as Nick Foles takes first-team reps
Philadelphia Eagles have not yet ruled out quarterback Michael Vick for Week 11 game against Washington Redskins, but rookie quarterback Nick Foles is currently taking the first-team reps.
Vick suffered a concussion during Week 10 defeat against Dallas Cowboys and Foles replaced him.
It has been widely speculated that Foles is going to start against Redskins if Vick is unable to recover.
By the looks of the things, Vick has shown some improvement, but is not hundred percent fit yet. If Vick declares himself fit, he will have to pass some training exercises and later he will be evaluated by an independent neurologists to get clearance.
Without passing these National Football League (NFL) protocols, Vick cannot play against Redskins. Wednesday’s practice session has passed and there are no signs of Vick taking the field.
This implies that the veteran quarterback might not be able to play against Redskins, but head coach Andy Reid has not yet ruled Vick out.
There has not been any word from Vick since he was injured. It was seemingly a last chance for the Eagles to save their playoff hopes by defeating the Cowboys, but they lost that opportunity and their quarterback as well.
Vick’s absence has received a mix response. Although no one has cherished his injury, a lot of fans have welcomed Foles’ presence on the field.
Since Vick has not been able to lead the team well this season, the fans are now looking for Foles to turn things around for the team.
Meanwhile, Foles took the first-team reps during Wednesday’s practice session, giving strong indication that he would start against the Redskins.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Reid said of Foles:
"He's going to handle it like he's going. Whether he does or not, we'll see how that works out. That's how he has to handle it right now.”
He added:
"He's around here all the time. He spends a lot of time here in the building getting himself right. You have to do that when you're the relief pitcher as the backup. He's used to that workload. He's continuing on with that."
