Philadelphia Eagles performance report – NFL Special part 3
Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles made his debut in Week 11 and helped his team to break its eight-game losing streak in Week 14.
We have already covered the Eagles’ performance in the first 10 weeks of the season. In this space, we will see how they performed after undergoing a slump.
Week 11: Washington Redskins
It was the worst day of this season for the Eagles, as they were outclassed by Washington Redskins 31-6.
It was Foles’ debut game, where his all efforts went down. He completed 21 of 46 passes for 204 yards with two interceptions.
Eagles’ defence could not stop Redskins’ rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, who had his season’s best completion percentage (93.3) and scored four touchdowns.
Eagles’ rushing and passing was extremely bad. Foles was disappointed with his performance but accepted his mistakes after the game.
Eagles’ running back LeSean McCoy got concussed at the end of the game. He had 15 carries for 45 yards.
Week 12: Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers defeated Eagles by 30-22. Eagles rookie running back Bryce Brown replaced McCoy, and had 19 carries for 178 yards. He rushed for 65 yards and five yards in second and third quarters respectively and scored touchdowns.
Eagles’ running play was better than Panthers due to the good performance by Brown.
Foles had an average performance in his second start. He was 16 of 21 for 119 yards and could not score a touchdown.
Week 13: Dallas Cowboys
With the combined efforts of Eagles’ offence, they came to end the third quarter with 24-17, but Cowboys scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter and ended the game with 38-33.
Nick Foles scored his second touchdown of the season. He completed 22 of 34 passes for 251 yards. Brown scored two touchdowns and carried the ball 24 times for 169 yards.
Week 14: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Eagles won their fourth game of the season, 23-21, against Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It was the best day for Foles as he scored a rushing touchdown in the second quarter of the game.
Foles completed 32 of 51 passes for 381 yards and threw two touchdown passes to tight end Clay Harbor and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin respectively in the fourth quarter.
Week 15: Cincinnati Bengals
Eagles got back to their slumping side as they lost another game after ending their long losing streak. Cincinnati Bengals faced no problem in defeat the Eagles by 34-13.
Bengals remained dominant in the entire game, except the second quarter, when Foles threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Riley Cooper. Kicker Alex Henery kicked two field goals of 22 and 20 yards respectively in the same quarter.
However, the Eagles could not build on the momentum and eventually gave the game away when the Bengals showed aggression on the offence.
