Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick: I expect a lot out of myself – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick knows that his playing style has been criticised and his ability to stay fit all the time has cost his team a few games, but as the Eagles prepare for the upcoming season they might see a new player in Vick.
Vick has been working out throughout the offseason to improve his technique. He did not miss any workout activity and was appreciated by head coach Andy Reid as well for his efforts.
Vick himself is aware of what the team expects of him. Eagles have never won the Super Bowl and despite having good offensive and defensive units they are often seen struggling on the field.
Vick is doing what he can to ensure the team’s offence stay on track in the upcoming season. According to the details present on the team’s official website, Vick believes that there is nothing to worry about the things one cannot change, but the player
wants to bring improvements wherever possible.
The quarterback wants to have fun while playing in the upcoming season and hopes that the team will display better performance. He said:
"I expect a lot out of myself. I feel like I have pressure on me each and every year I play and every player does to perform well. If you don't, then you've got to figure out what you're not doing right. The thing is to not worry about things that you can't
control. We're going to go out and have fun playing football this year. That's what's most important."
While asserting that keeping focus on the game is essential, Vick said that a player’s performance should be disciplined. He said:
"It's about discipline and not trying to do too much. If you want to go out and rush for 100 yards then you're going to take a beating."
The Eagles finished the last season without qualifying for the playoffs as they were unable to make an impressive start. The recovered from the slump towards the end of the season, but still fell short.
In the 2012 season, they have to be aggressive right from the start if they want to play in the postseason.
