Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick: We are holding everybody accountable – NFL News
The members of Philadelphia Eagles’ squad met on Wednesday in a meeting that was attended only by players to discuss the team’s current downfall and ways to come out of the slump.
According to the details present on the team’s website, the meeting, in which many senior players addressed the team, was called by quarterback Michael Vick.
Currently on a three-game losing streak, Eagles have lost four out of their seven games this season and their playoff chances are in jeopardy.
The meeting was aimed at making the players aware of their responsibilities and urging them to do a better job on the field.
Vick said:
"You've got to go out and be productive, not just for me but for everybody on this football team. We're holding everybody accountable and responsible right now for doing their jobs.”
Eagles have not won any Super Bowl and if they keep on following the current path they might end up losing another opportunity at the end of this season.
In order to qualify for the playoffs, Eagles must ensure victories in their next few games and this is why the meeting is of prime importance as the players need motivation.
The good thing for Eagles is that the players, despite the recent failures, are united and not blaming each other for the losses. Earlier, when a lot of fingers were pointed towards Vick for the team’s defeats, wide receiver DeSean Jackson backed him, saying
that one man could not be blamed for the defeats.
This goes to show that the players are ready to play as a unit in future as well and the team chemistry that was not there last season is not expected to be hurt with the team’s recent run.
Defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins said:
"No one is pointing the finger or letting anything come between (us in) the locker room. There's a lot of negativity floating around right now outside of the team. We have to make sure that it stays outside of the team and it doesn't come into the locker
room. That way we can focus on the right things, focus on getting things corrected and getting things solved that we need to.”
