Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick disappointed on ‘dismal’ season – NFL News
The Philadelphia Eagles ended one of their worst seasons with a 7-42 defeat against National Football Conference (NFC) East opponents New York Giants, who, like Eagles, got eliminated from the playoff contention after Week 17.
Eagles veteran quarterback Michael Vick, who could not deliver his best last season owing to injuries, had hoped at the start of the season to lead his team to an astounding season.
Vick’s dreams did not realise, and he even struggled to find his place in the team, let alone leading it to the playoffs or a championship game.
After making a shaky but winning start to the season, Vick’s performance declined considerably and an injury eventually paved the way for his replacement to take charge of the offence.
Rookie quarterback Nick Foles replaced the Eagles and showed some positive signs that the Eagles could use in future. Foles’ injury allowed Vick to start in Week 17 game and he again struggled to perform.
The quarterback finished the game completing 19 of his 35 passes for 197 yards, one touchdown and an interception, while getting sacked one time for the loss of four yards. This was Eagles’ third defeat in a row, and 11th in 12 games. They finished
the season at last place in NFC East with a 4-12 record.
According to the details present on the Eagles’ website, Vick has expressed disappointment on failing in the season. He said:
“We just wanted to go out and get a win. First and foremost, that’s the ultimate common goal. Other than that, you’re not thinking about what can happen the day after the game. We just wanted to finish strong and finish with a win. Unfortunately, we weren’t
able to do that.”
According to different media reports, Eagles head coach Andy Reid might be fired now, and many reports have indicated that Vick might share the same fate while the Eagles look to develop a franchise quarterback in Foles. Vick said of the entire season:
“I just have to take time to think about everything that happened this season and reflect on it. I can take the positives away, as far as what I was able to accomplish.”
