Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick inspires rookies – NFL News
When quarterback Michael Vick was drafted as a top pick in the 2001 National Football League (NFL) draft, the player did not have any idea what was in the offing for him.
Over the course of the next few years, Vick became a leading figure in the team, got a hefty contract, received fame and success and just when all was going fine a tragedy hit his career.
He was found involved in dog fighting and was sent to prison for around a couple of years. The Falcons deserted him and the fame turned to hatred.
The story is not over here. After serving the punishment, he returned to the game and was appointed by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Vick performed spectacularly well with the Eagles and was also named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2010.
He is once again famous and successful and his contract is yet again very lucrative.
Since 2001, Vick’s life has been on a roller coaster, but all this has thought the quarterback one previous lesson.
During 15th NFL Rookie Symposium, he shared it with the youngsters who are going to make their NFL debut this year.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Vick told the youngsters that they must own their actions, for they will be held accountable for them.
While asserting that a person must make wise choices in life, Vick said:
“Be accountable for everything you do. You can’t blame anybody else for your actions. The choices that you make each and every day are what shape your life.”
The rookies are lucky enough to have Vick sharing his experience. This is something that Vick never got a chance to experience. Had someone guided him through, he might not have landed in prison. He said:
“If a guy had said what I said, about going to prison, about losing $100 million? Yeah, I would have listened. I hope these young guys do listen and understand that it comes and goes and it can be taken away from you. I’m fortunate to have the chance to
be here, with the Eagles, with a coach I love and fans who support me and teammates who have my back. I’m the lucky one.”
