Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick optimistic about team’s chances – NFL News
Even though Philadelphia Eagles are struggling at the moment, their quarterback Michael Vick believes that the season is far from over for them.
After the first half of the season, Eagles have a total of five defeats under their belt while they have won only three games.
At present, they are on a four-game losing streak and need some victories to come close to the New York Giants, who are leading National Football Conference (NFC) East.
The only advantage the Eagles have now is that they have played only one divisional game and fortunately managed to win it.
In Week 4, Eagles defeated Giants in their first divisional game. This means that out of eight games Eagles will play in the second half of the season, five will be played against NFC East opponents.
They will play two games against Dallas Cowboys, two games against Washington Redskins and one more game against Giants.
If they manage to win these games they will have a strong edge in the division and a bright opportunity to qualify for the playoffs.
This is the only thing that can save them and now they have to start getting victories. They will play their Week 10 game in a seemingly must-win encounter against Cowboys.
Vick said of the team’s advantage in the division, via Eagles’ website:
"It's a big game. We're still 1-0 in the division. We still have a shot. We still have a shot. It's time to figure out what needs to be done to win this game and we're going to need everybody's participation in this one and it's going to be big."
Eagles are also dealing with a few injury problems that have further dented their chances of playing well this season. However, there is nothing that can be done, except for expecting better performance from backups.
Vick further said:
"It's part of the game. It's one of those seasons where you're nicked up and guys have to step up. Guys have to step up. Guys have to step up and play. We watch the film and we prepare. Coaches can only do so much. We've all got to put it all together."
