Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick ready for Week 1 – NFL News
Although Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick missed the last preseason game against Cleveland Browns and might not be able to participate in the preseason finale against New York Jets this Thursday, the veteran quarterback has asserted that he will
be ready to face Browns in the regular season opener on September 09.
During the Eagles’ second preseason game against New England Patriots, Vick suffered a rib injury and was sidelined for the next game.
Although the injury was not very critical, Vick drew attention from everywhere as he is renowned for not being able to play any season completely and usually misses a few games.
In the 2009 and 2010 seasons, he took part in 12 games each while he managed to play 13 games last season. This has raised doubts on Vick’s ability to play the entire 2012 season.
However, the quarterback is not bothered by his recent record and feels confident about playing the entire season.
Vick was unable to practise before the game against Browns, but he successfully managed to join his teammates on the practice field on Sunday, August 26.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Vick was happy to be able to get back on the field. The quarterback said:
“It was great to get back out there, great to throw the ball around and get back in the huddle with the guys and just have some fun. It was great to enjoy the fans and enjoy the game of football."
Vick has said that he will keep on practising his throws before the start of the regular season. He commented:
"Throw with men in the pocket, get a good feel for what I need to do to be successful out on the field."
Meanwhile, it is expected that rookie quarterback Nick Foles, who has impressed nearly everyone in the Eagles’ preseason campaign, might get the number 2 backup role.
During Vick’s absence, Foles started the game against Browns and was brilliant as the Eagles continued their undefeated preseason streak. Although no official confirmation has been made, many experts believe that Eagles would like to see Foles getting playing
time in case of Vick’s absence in the regular season.
