Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick still facing concussion symptoms – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles veteran quarterback Michael Vick has still not recovered from the concussion he faced during Week 10 game against Dallas Cowboys.
Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder confirmed on Friday that the quarterback was still facing concussion symptoms and that his recovery could take some time.
This has ended Vick’s chances for Week 11 game against National Football Conference (NFC) East opponents Washington Redskins.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Burkholder informed that Vick was still having headache and said of Vick:
“[Vick] just does not have that energy, is not very alert in terms of, he's tired all the time and he's slept a lot and he's not getting rid of the fatigue.”
Vick reportedly tried to clear a physical test recently, but the trainer was apparently not satisfied with the outcome. This shows that the veteran has suffered a serious setback that could also keep him out for longer period.
Although Vick has struggled to perform well this season, his absence in no way benefits the Eagles.
Vick has to clear the National Football League (NFL) protocols before returning to the field. He must clear some physical tests while he should also get a green signal from an independent neurologist in order to step on the field again.
At present, there is no timeframe for Vick’s return and the Eagles do not want to rush him on the field without ensuring that the player is completely fit. Burkholder said:
"You just don't know and that's why you don't judge and that's why you don't speculate with the coaches about when he might return. It's not fair to him and it's not fair to them. You just have to take it day by day. That's the best way. None of us will
do anything crazy and he won't have pressure on him and all that kind of stuff."
Meanwhile, rookie quarterback Nick Foles, who replaced Vick in the game against Cowboys, is getting ready for his first National Football League (NFL) start because as long as Vick is out, Foles will continue to start for the Eagles. The rookie hopes to
deliver his best in his first game as starter.
