Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick wants to get the job done – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has said that he is not worried about losing his starting job and that he wants to get the job done once he steps on the field.
Speaking in light of the rumours that Vick would be replaced in near future if he did not perform well, the quarterback maintained that he knows his role and wants to get it done perfectly.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Vick said:
"There were never a time where I didn't know exactly if I was going to be the starter or not. Quite frankly, I know what I can do when I'm out there. I know what has to happen when I'm out there on the football field. That's just my approach now; to go out
and get the job done and we'll see what happens."
After getting third defeat of the season in Week 6, Eagles fired Juan Castillo, who was serving as defensive coordinator. This led to speculations that head coach Andy Reid, whose job could also be on line after the season, might introduce some more rash
changes that could also see Vick playing as backup.
However, no such clear indication has been given by Reid, who did mention last week that Vick was their starter, for the time being.
Eagles did not play any game in Week 7 and have to face the undefeated Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. They have a very good record of winning games after coming off their bye week, but the record might not help them against Falcons.
Eagles need good performance from offence and defence, while Vick also has to ensure that he controls the ball properly on the field. He has already thrown interceptions and fumbled the ball many times and if he repeats the same flaws, the Eagles might have
to seriously consider replacing him.
The Eagles quarterback said:
“You certainly know things are being evaluated, people are being evaluated, players. That's the way this game goes. I think everybody has to look at the film and you'll see who's doing it right and who's not.”
