Philadelphia Eagles rookie QB Nick Foles does not want any distraction – NFL News
Although Philadelphia Eagles rookie QB Nick Foles is expected to start Friday’s preseason game against Cleveland Browns, the youngster is not engaging in any sort of activity that might distract him.
Foles has never started a National Football League (NFL) game and it has not yet been announced officially that he will get his first start against Browns on Friday. However, Eagles’ regular quarterback Michael Vick is expected to miss the game and in the
veteran’s absence Foles is the obvious choice.
The Eagles have given Foles a considerable playing time during the first two preseason games and the rookie’s superb performance has impressed everyone.
In the first preseason game, Foles completed six out of 10 passes against Pittsburgh Steelers. He gained 144 yards and got two touchdowns, receiving quarterback rating of 143.8.
In the second preseason game against New England Patriots, he completed 18 out of 28 passes and gained 217 yards while throwing two touchdown passes and one interception. He got quarterback rating of 96.9.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Foles has refrained from complacency as he nears his first NFL start. While mentioning that he wants to keep his focus only on improving his performance, the rookie said:
"I just take it for what it is. I'm really just focused on the game. I try to block everything else out. It can be distracting at times, but then you learn to zone out and focus on the task at hand. My goal is to be the best football player and best teammate
I can be, so that's really what I'm focused on right now."
Earlier, Foles also received words of appreciation from head coach Andy Reid and Vick. The encouragement from Reid and Vick is a great motivation for Foles, who plays at his best when he is enjoying his game. The rookie believes in enjoying what he is doing
so as to extract maximum gains out of it. He said:
“My philosophy is if guys see you having fun, they're going to let their natural abilities take over. So when I play I just try to have fun and not worry too much."
