Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles starting to feel comfortable – NFL News
Even though Philadelphia Eagles are struggling to win, their rookie quarterback Nick Foles, who has replaced veteran Michael Vick, is satisfied with the level of improvement he has shown during past few games.
A couple of weeks ago, he finished a game against the Washington Redskins with no touchdown and two interceptions. A week later when his team faced the Carolina Panthers, Foles finished without throwing any interception or a touchdown.
In the recent game when his team faced National Football Conference (NFC) East opponents, Dallas Cowboys, Foles finished with completing 22 of his 34 passes for 251 yards and scored one touchdown without throwing any interception.
The gradual improvement in the rookie’s performance has certainly pleased him and others, but the fact that is tormenting them is the Eagles’ inability to win games. At present, the Eagles are placed at the bottom of NFC East and the defeat against the Cowboys
was their eighth in a row.
According to the details present on the Eagles’ website, Foles said about his recent performance:
"I felt comfortable. I feel more comfortable every time I take reps. I was proud of the guys up front. They did a great job blocking all night. Our backs did a great job running. I felt we were pretty efficient.”
The rookie added:
"It just shows that you have to be solid all throughout the game and eliminate mistakes. We're going to keep working to do that."
Meanwhile, Eagles head coach Andy Reid has also appreciated the rookie and said of him after the defeat:
"This week, we gave him more opportunities to shoot. I thought he handled it well, made some great decisions; made a couple good checks.”
Eagles have won just three games this season and the number of their defeats has reached nine. They still have four more games in the regular season. Although they cannot secure a playoff spot now, they can at least end the season on a bright note to give
fans some consolation.
If they are able to finish the season strongly and players like Foles start settling in nicely, they might be retained for a longer period because the Eagles are expected to make some changes in the front office and roster after the season.
