Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy defends head coach Andy Reid – NFL News
Although the rumours surrounding Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid are gaining strength with every week, the players are still backing the coach.
The recent one to come forward in the coach’s defence is running back LeSean McCoy who has expressed total backing for Reid saying that the coach takes blame for almost everything.
It should be noted that the Eagles started the 2012 season, hoping that they would be among the best teams of the National Football Conference (NFC) and might get a shot at the Super Bowl.
However, things have gone completely the opposite way for the Eagles, and they cannot even reach the playoffs. At present, the Eagles are placed at the bottom of NFC East after winning a total of four out of 14 games.
The Eagles’ start to the season was much better, though. They won the first two games and were 3-1 after four weeks. However, they could not maintain the winning momentum after Week 4. The Eagles lost eight straight games before beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
to get their fourth win of the season. A week later, they lost another game.
There are a number of reasons for the team’s failure and many experts are saying that Reid took many bad decisions that led to the team’s failure. McCoy, however, does not think the same way.
According to the details present on the team’s website, McCoy said while defending the head coach:
"Coach Reid is a good coach. He gets blamed for everything. Sometimes when you break down the plays and you break down the mistakes, how do you fault the coach for that? Sometimes you feel like he's taking the blame for everything and it's kind of your fault."
McCoy added:
"I'm behind Coach Reid 110 percent. I think we're a good enough group, but we have to go out and do it. I don't think he should get blamed for the turnovers that we caused or the blown mistakes. Things like that he shouldn't be blamed for."
Eagles will face Washington Redskins in Week 16, and then take on New York Giants in Week 17.
