Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy pleased to make the Pro Bowl – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy heard good news on Tuesday when the Pro Bowl of team was announced. He along with two other teammates, Jason Peters and Jason Babin, are a part of starting line-up for the National Football Conference Squad.
The Pro Bowl game will be played on January 29 at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii.
Speaking after the squad announcement, McCoy said that he was pleased to be a part of the team and said that he had worked hard for it. He credited his success to his teammates and coaching staff and said that without their help it was impossible for him
to achieve this glory.
"I worked hard for this," he said. "It means a lot to me. It means a lot to my teammates, guys that have pushed me and they had faith in me to reach this type of accomplishment. ...You think about all of the better players and running backs in the league
and I can call myself one of those guys now."
McCoy is playing his third season for the Eagles after being drafted by the franchise in 2009. This is the first time he has been named in the Pro Bowl squad.
He has started all the 15 games this season and has 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns to his credit.
Meanwhile, Eagles’ Offensive Line Coach Howard Mudd has appreciated tackle Jason Peters, who has been named in this squad for fifth consecutive season. Peters has been playing for the Eagles since 2009. Before joining the franchise, he spent five years with
Buffalo Bills. This season, he has played 13 games.
Mudd thinks that Peters’ selection is justified and said that he deserved to be a Pro Bowler.
“If anyone doesn't think (Peters is the best left tackle in the league), I would categorically ask them to give me one who is as good. I didn't say better. I said as good. So that puts him in a pretty rarified place.”
The Eagles are indeed delighted to have three of their players named for the esteemed squad. The season for them is over as they are not going to reach the playoffs, but this selection has come as a welcome development that will help cheer the fans up.
The Eagles have won seven games this season and are ranked third in the National Football Conference East division. They will face Washington Redskins in their last game of the season on Sunday.
