Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek disappointed on team’s failures – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek has expressed disappointment over the team’s failures this season, saying that he is embarrassed about the slumping record.
Following Eagles’ loss in Week 12 against Carolina Panthers, Celek struggled to find the answer to the team’s woes.
The Eagles, despite having a good roster, could not play well at the start of the season. Their worries are increased now as they have a number of senior players out of the side owing to different injuries.
According to the details present on Eagles website, Celek said of his team:
"Here we have talent. We have the players, we just have to play."
With criticism being showered on them from every corner, the Eagles seem to have no change of qualifying for the playoffs. They are currently on a seven-game losing streak, their veterans are out, and other teams in National Football Conference (NFC) East
have better record than them.
This is more than disappointing for the Eagles, who had been expected to do well this season. Some analysts even rated them as a Super Bowl contender but at present they are struggling even to finish the season strongly let alone securing a playoff berth.
This is something that has baffled Celek. The tight end said:
"I am embarrassed of losing to be honest and to be a team that was considered a powerhouse in this league and now to have teams come here and laugh at us; that is embarrassing. I don’t what to be a part of anything like that. I want to turn it around and
win games. It just makes me sick."
Many reports have suggested that the Eagles might make prominent roster adjustments after the current season. This may include dismissal of head coach Andy Reid along with some other players and coaches, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Whatever the case is, Celek is focused only on improving his team’s record and securing victories. He said:
“This is what I do. This is my livelihood. I could be doing other things, but this is what I do and I want to succeed at it.”
