Philadelphia Eagles upbeat about distraction-free training camp – NFL News
As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for their training camp to start on Monday, July 23, 2012, they need not worry about any distraction and can focus on developing their skills while getting the due practice.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) calls for signing all rookies before the start of training camp. Eagles, like all other National Football League (NFL) teams, have made it sure to sign all their rookies before the camp. Those rookies who have not
received contracts from their teams will not be able to attend the camp.
Moreover, Eagles already have given long-term contracts to their few key players including DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy.
So the players will not be holding out, the rookies will be present and the coaches will be able to focus only on training the players rather than worrying about distractions.
At present, only rookies and a few seniors will attend the camp while the rest of the players will join them on July 25.
Eagles head coach Andy Reid seems a happy man these days. He is going to train the players who, if perform well, can even win the Super Bowl this season.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Reid is upbeat about training camp that is going to take place at Lehigh University. He said of training camp:
"You're stuck in the dorms up there for a few weeks here. You get to know the guy next to you. You understand your teammates and develop this relationship there.”
The head coach added:
"You do that with the physical play on the field. You find out from a coaching standpoint who is going to be with you in the tough times. Every game you are presented with the highs and the lows. Who is going to be there during the lows, man? Who is going
to push themselves? No matter how you work the sport, you have to be mentally tough to do this thing."
Meanwhile, there are a few decisions for Reid to make. The starters of a few positions have not been announced yet and the players will get an opportunity to showcase their talent during training camp to be considered for the position.
Although the starters of some positions have been decided, Reid still wants every player to train as if he is competing for the starting role.
