Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver Jeremy Maclin wants to get things rolling – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver, Jeremy Maclin, who at this time of the season last year, was fighting with a lymphoma scare, has said that he is fit and healthy now and wants to get things rolling as he prepares for the 2012 National Football League
(NFL) season.
Before the start of the last NFL season, Maclin was put on the active/non-football illness list. The true nature of his injury was not determined, but it was feared that he might be suffering from lymphoma.
Later, he got fit and played majority of the games in the 2011 season. He missed a few games owing to some shoulder and hamstring problems.
Eagles were not able to qualify for the playoffs and since the season ended for them soon, Maclin also got extra time to nurse his injuries.
He claims to be fully recovered now, but the cause of the illness that presented death threats to the player last year is still unknown.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Maclin has said that he has recovered properly and that he is looking forward to playing in the upcoming season.
He said:
"Luckily I'm healthy now and hopefully I can get stronger, faster, bigger to prevent those things from happening this year. Up until last year, that wasn't a problem, so it's just unfortunate that happened last year.”
Maclin started his professional NFL career with Eagles in 2009. In his rookie season, he started 13 games while playing 15 in which he gained 773 receiving yards on 56 receptions and scored four touchdowns.
In his second season, Maclin was able to register better statistics as he played and started all 16 games of the regular season in which he registered 964 receiving yards on 70 receptions while scoring 10 touchdowns.
Last year, he played and started 13 games in which he registered a total of 859 receiving yards on 63 receptions while scoring five touchdowns.
His performance last year was hampered badly by the injuries. He said of the problems he faced last year:
"Some days I kind of sit back and think about it. Like I said in the past, I'm blessed to have everything be ok with me. I'm just ready to look forward and get this thing rolling."
Maclin is ready to go and it looks as if the management is also satisfied with his recovery. However, he will have to prove his fitness on the field if he really wants to keep things rolling.
