Philadelphia Eagles will keep on utilising Lehigh University field for training until 2013 – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles and Lehigh University have signed a contract that will allow the Eagles to conduct their training camp at the university’s field until the summer of 2013, according to the details present on the team’s official website.
The Eagles are holding their preseason training camp at Lehigh University since 1996. Their sessions start at the end of July and continue till mid-August.
Located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley, Lehigh University draws thousands of spectators every year when the Eagles arrive there for their training camp.
According to Joe Sterrett, Murray H. Goodman '48 Dean of Athletics at Lehigh:
"We are pleased to once again partner with the Eagles to provide the Lehigh Valley and NFL fans with one of the league's most intimate and exciting Training Camp experiences."
Meanwhile, Eagles President Don Smolenski has also appreciated Lehigh University for being a partner of the franchise since a long time. Appreciating the facilities Eagles get at Lehigh University, Smolenski hoped for having a good association with the university.
He said:
"They provide us with first-class accommodations year in and year out - not only for the players, coaches and staff, but also for the thousands of fans who attend the practices every day. We have a great relationship with Lehigh as evidenced by the communication
we had through the lockout last season, which allowed us to hit the ground running once football activities resumed."
Eagles will soon head to Lehigh University for this year’s training camp. As per the details, the rookies and some other seniors will report to the camp on July 22 while the rest of the players will join their teammates on July 25.
Eagles will begin their training camp from July 23 and it will continue till August 14. Eagles will play their first preseason game on August 09 against Pittsburgh Steelers. They will play total four preseason games before playing their regular season opener
against Cleveland Browns on September 09.
The other preseason games include encounter against New England Patriots on August 20, Cleveland Browns on August 24 and New York Jets on August 30.
Eagles are entering the 2012 as a National Football Conference (NFC) title contender.
