Philadelphia Flyers Chris Pronger confident about health and full 2011-2012 season –NHL Update
Terming last season as one of his worst seasons yet, Chris Pronger, on his way to recovery, hopes to play not only a full 82-game season when it starts in October, but also is head on making the starting line-up for Philadelphia Flyers first game, despite
being doubted on his entry in Septembers training camp.
Pronger was speaking with reporters in a conference call on Monday and explaining why there has not been any news on him training this summer and what his future expectations are.
Although he might believe that a healthy comeback for next season is inevitable, but observing the back surgery and hand injury the 36-year-old has had to face makes it less and less logical to believe with every passing day when he misses training.
Nevertheless, Chris Pronger is more confident now than ever.
"The goal is to be ready for Game 1 of the regular season", Pronger said. "I am starting to progress. I think (GM Paul Holmgren) talked last week about being cleared to progress my cardio and things like that, and grab light weights and do some shoulder
work. Once I get cleared, I can start getting into a full lifting program".
Pronger, a former second overall pick during round-one of the 1993 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft by Hartford Whalers, has over 17-years of experience in the major league. He was limited to 50 games in his second season with Philadelphia Flyers
in which he still managed to pot 25 points (4 goals, 21 assists) and maintain a plus-minus rating of seven.
Last year, Pronger went through nearly four surgeries which seriously hampered his game-play, especially in the final matchups of the regular season.  Being out for so long is more than enough time to heal according to the Dryden, Ontario, Canada native.
"You're able to allow your body to hopefully fully recover", Pronger said. "I like to think that taking that much time off will allow me to fully heal up and recover and be able to play another 82-game season".
Veteran defenseman, Chris Pronger, has certainly seen better teams throughout his lengthy term in the NHL. Next season will surely be a decisive one for him and a testament to whether he can continue or not.
