Philadelphia Flyers Claude Giroux Hurt in Germany -NHL Update
Philadelphia Flyers’ leading forward, Claude Giroux, has been reported injured according to a German source while playing overseas during the National Hockey League (NHL) lockout, but fortunately, it is said to be a minor affliction.
Giroux is said to have hurt his neck during a matchup but is just a minor injury and the Flyers’ player will not be taking part in the next contest, but may be back after that, that is if the medical staff clears him to do so.
The 24-year-old is currently playing for the German team, the Eisbaren Berlin of the DEL and was reportedly hit to the head. His agent, Pat Brisson, told the Courier-Post that it was a “very minor upper-body injury”, and he should be back to full health
in a matter of days.
At the moment, Giroux has registered four goals and 15 assists with the foreign league team of Germany in nine games and continues to be a leading player for them as long as there is a work stoppage in North America.
Giroux, a right winger for the Philadelphia Flyers, is a native of Hearst, Ontario, Canada, and was drafted by the Flyers as the 22nd overall back in round-one of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He is one of the best players on the squad at the moment
and has five seasons under his belt at the moment.
2007-2008 was Giroux’s first in the North American major league and this past hockey year was by far his best as the young forward registered 93 points (28 goals, 65 assists) in 77 gamed played for one of the best records, making him third overall in the
league.
In a total of 285 career games played up until now, Giroux has 243 points to his name of which 78 are goals and 165 assists with 113 minutes in penalty time.
He is also locked on to a three-year contract at the moment, worth a total of $11.25 million and giving him a cool annual salary cap hit of more than $3 million.
Claude Giroux will become a restricted free agent by the time the 2013-2014 NHL regular season comes to an end.
