Philadelphia Flyers Claude Giroux skating, but still recovering -NHL Update
Claude Giroux’s stint overseas to continue playing during the lockout with the Berlin Polar Bears in the German ice hockey league did not last as long as he hoped it would, but luckily, the Philadelphia Flyers’ leading forward is back on his feet and skating
to speed up the recovery process.
He was hurt during an exhibition matchup in Germany with the foreign team and returned to the United States after realizing things could potentially get worse if he did not get his neck/shoulder injury checked. That was three weeks ago and reportedly, the
24-year-old has made significant progress, but there is no denying that it has taken much longer than expected before.
“I’m doing better, but it’s a process and I need to understand that,” said Giroux, according to the Senatorsextra.com. “(Tuesday) was my first day back in the gym and today was just a little skate, some flow drills and stuff. It was good, and hopefully,
it keeps getting better.”
There is no telling at the moment how long it could potentially for him to get back at a hundred percent, but that is something Claude Giroux is not willing to compromise on despite whether a season may come up all of a sudden or continue playing in Europe
if the lockout continues to drag on.
“It’s hard to say right now,” said Giroux. “Obviously, I’m doing something every day to make sure I get back in game shape and I still have some things to make sure I’m 100 per cent.”
The Philadelphia Flyers’ right winger was picked up by the Philadelphia Flyers as the 22nd overall back in round-one of the 2006 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. Up until now, Giroux has played in 285 games played with 243 points to his
name, consisting of 78 goals and 165 assists.
This past hockey year was truly a breakthrough for him as Claude Giroux registered a career high, 93 points (28 goals, 65 assists) in 77 games played, much higher than his past record of 76.
Updates should be expected on the player in the next couple of days.
